Every summer I dream of relocating to a new place for two months. A place where it would be cooler than Pune! These days the sun looks like it is shining with full might and even if you move out at 10 in the morning it seems like the sun rays will burn you anytime, literally!

So when you think of summer holidays you think of planning trips to places which are nice and cool. We bring you places in India which you can think of visiting during the summer vacations:

Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh:

When you think of Himachal Pradesh it’s the Shimla-Manali route that comes to your mind! Think beyond that and explore the unexplored Spiti valley. Spiti valley is a cold desert located in the laps of Himalayas. The rugged Mountains, snow clad peaks, quaint villages, beautiful sunrises and even more surreal sunsets make Spiti Valley the most sought after destination in India. You can plan camping here and stay in tents gazing at the beautiful stars in night. Get divine experience at the monasteries. The stay in this quiet and laid back location will surely make your Holiday the best! And what’s the travel route you say? You can either reach Spiti valley from Shimla – Kinnaur route which is open throughout the year or take the Manali – Rohtang route which is open from June to September. The snow from the Himalayas comes down in the valley, making it accessible by road only for 6 months. Hence, don’t miss the chance to visit it in summer when it’s the best time to visit the valley!

Tirthan Valley, Himachal Pradesh:

Another unexplored destination is the Tirthan valley in Himachal Pradesh. The pine forests, apple orchards, picture perfect villages, hanging bridges and hidden waterfalls make this a really beautiful destination. Tirthan Valley is the gateway to the UNESCO world heritage site, the Great Himalayan National Park. Visit Jalori viewpoint to get a 360 degree view of the great Himalayas and the Kullu valley. Visit the beautiful Serolsar Lake and get stunned by its beauty. If you are an adventure junkie then Tirthan valley is the best place for you! Trekking, river crossing, trout fishing are some of the activities which you can do here!

Auli, Uttarakhand:

Visit the ultimate skiing destination in India! This is what you need in this scorching heat. If you want to see a place straight out of a fairy tale, visit Auli. The skiing is usually done in the winters but you would get to see the beautiful coniferous forest at the temperature of about 0 to 2 degree Celsius in the month of May. The famous Hindu shrine Badrinath is nearby Auli. Auli also boasts of world’s highest man-made lake which is made with the purpose to make snow in case there is a scanty snowfall. Take a ride in the second highest cable car ride in India. Doesn’t Auli seem like a perfect destination for holidays?

Mount Abu, Rajasthan:

Visit the only hill station in Rajasthan and get enchanted by its beauty. Mount Abu reminds me of our very own Mahabaleshwar. Mount Abu has three very beautiful spots. The Dilwara temple which is made ekdum Dil Se and you can it in the intricate carvings that are made. I haven’t seen such beautiful carvings in my life! The Guru Shikhar which is the highest point in Mount Abu has beautiful views and is also supposed to be a jagrut place of Sri Dutta Guru. The Third is the Brahmakumari’s peace park which is so beautiful and full of lovely plants and flowers. You would really get some peace of mind here. Spend some time in the evening boat at the Nakki Lake and do some street shopping nearby to take a few cool souvenirs back home.

Reading about these places makes me feel like packing my bags and heading there by catching the next bus! What do you say?
